Freedom Remembered
The great unlearning includes the dissection of wants and needs.
Wants constructed by shoulds and fostered by fear.
Needs forgotten, convinced otherwise, redirected, shelved with a post-it: TBD.
Certainty, and it’s perceived safety,
has been a reframe that I have to visit time and time again.
Identifying this want,
Rooted in wound,
Needs a conversation about self worth (as all things do),
To see the lack that filters this mindset,
And the stressors that it brings.
Certainty, and it’s perceived safety, don’t feed me.
They create a mirage.
But my true need,
The one that aligns with my souls purpose,
Is freedom.
Freedom is what nourishes the bloom,
Gives space to evolve
To ascend
To heal
To be curious
To create
To co-create
the spoken word
I conceive these pieces with the beat of my heart,
then birth them with the fire of my voice.
